Originally founded in 1985 as HSS Development Company, HSS Management Company is a full service commercial real estate firm specializing in the development, leasing, and management of commercial and residential properties. HSS has historically operated a diverse portfolio of commercial properties located in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. This portfolio has consisted of newly developed and redeveloped shopping centers, newly developed and redeveloped office centers, and infill development land parcels in the Chicagoland area.

As a developer, HSS and its principals have in depth expertise in both developing and revitalizing shopping centers in the Midwest area, with past and current projects concentrated in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Missouri. Older, underutilized properties in Peoria, IL, Kenosha, WI, Hammond, IN and Chicago, IL have been redeveloped and retenanted to create significant increases in value. New shopping centers have been built in infill markets such as Skokie, IL and Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. In addition, HSS has acquired, redeveloped, developed, and leased office centers in both Chicago and its suburbs.

As a retail leasing company, HSS understands the importance of leasing as the driving force in commercial real estate. HSS believes in maintaining its own internal leasing staff, a staff that has been able to maintain an average 96% occupancy rate throughout the portfolio. Over the past eighteen months alone, HSS has leased over 500,000 square feet of space to such highly sought after tenants such as University of Illinois, JoAnn Fabrics, Menards, Big Lots, and Dollar General.

As a property management company, HSS has managed as much as 1,600,000 square feet of commercial properties. The professional management team of accounting, maintenance and management personnel enables HSS to effectively manage the development, redevelopment and the daily operations of these successful centers utilizing state of the art management and accounting tools in order to provide first class management services in a cost effective manner.
